How is my donation used?
Following are some examples of how the CFCC has worked to benefit the citizens of Carroll County:
- Childhood Development and Educational Needs:
The CFCC has strongly supported various child care facilities through grants to facilities in Carroll, Breda, and Manning. Grants have been given for children’s summer camp activities for kids, for Head Start expansion, for children’s programs, a theatre production for autistic children, equipment for little leagues, books and toys, and for playground equipment, as well as many other projects. In addition, area schools and organizations have received grants for STEM (science, technology, engineering & math) programs, team equipment, stadium improvements, security cameras, security devices for doors, and additions to modernize auditoriums. All of these improvements would have been difficult to achieve without grants from the CFCC.
- Recreational, Beautification, and Environmental Benefits
Many local cities and towns have applied for grants to beautify their cities by adding gardens and parks. Other associations and schools have added to recreational facilities by remodeling gyms and updating exercise equipment, by enhancing tennis, racquetball, and basketball courts, and by upgrading ball diamonds and football fields. Funds have been used to pave and add new bike and hiking trails and to outfit and improve outdoor shelter facilities. Trees, landscaping, and shrubbery have been added to enhance the environment and funds have been given for recycling/repurposing efforts.
- Social, Health, and Community Safety Services
The CFCC has granted funds for CPR training equipment, computers and equipment for police and ambulance crews, funded handicapped accessible entries, funded mental health care, pre-diabetes counseling, firefighter gear, shelter for abused spouses, as well as many other initiatives to aid local communities.
- Cultural and Community Resources
Several historical preservation efforts have received grants from the CFCC, such as the Carroll Chamber facility at the Carroll Depot Centre and the Manning Hausbarn. Funds have also been used to promote public library programs, children’s programs, theatre, community meals, the historical society, parks, shelters, and more.
